John Krasinski

On the hit show The Office, John Krasinski plays the bright but unmotivated Jim Halpert. Jim is a paper salesman who spends most of his time avoiding work and working with the company’s receptionist Pam Beesley to play massively involved pranks on his uptight co-worker, the salesman Dwight Schrute. Despite being portrayed as an immensely charismatic and effective salesman, the show drops hints that Jim is extremely overqualified for his position and is only staying due to his crush on the the receptionist who helps him antagonize Dwight. Played with a great deal of energy, Jim comes to life through the talented and nuanced performance of John Krasinski

Krasinski was born on October 20, 1979 in Newton, Massachusetts, the youngest of three sons from the marriage of Dr. Ronald and Mary Krasinski. As a child, he played Little League Baseball with B.J. Novak, who he would later appear with in the show The Office. He graduated from highschool in 1997 and continued on to Brown University. At Brown University, Krasinski would become an honored playwright. From there, he attended the National Theater Instituted in Waterfield, Connecticut. It is obvious to see that Krasinski always had an eye on the acting profession; his first stage experience occurred during high school in satirical play that was written by his future co-worker B.J. Novak. Although he is fairly tall for the norm, standing at 6′3, he is actually the shortest of his three brothers, who stand at 6′6 and 6′10.

In 2002, he started his first work with television as an intern on the the show Late Night with Conan O’Brien and from there his television credits span a fairly broad spectrum. He has appeared on the hit TV shows Law & Order: Criminal Intent and CSI: Crime Scene Investigations. He has also done a fair amount of work in the film industry, and his film credits include Kinsey, Jarhead, and The Holiday. In License to Wed, he co-stars with Robin Williams and Uma Thurman, and in Shrek the Third, his voice appears as that of Lancelot. Although they are nowhere near the order of his acting ability, Krasinski has also appeared in a variety of commercials. Most notably, he has appeared in commercials for Ask.Com, and the Apple TV, as well as for the GAP and Best Buy.

For his performance as Jim Halpert in The Office, John Krasinki, along with the rest of the cast was awarded the 2007 Outstanding Award for Performance in an Ensemble Comedy. He has also been voted People Magazine’s Sexiest Man of the Year in 2006. With his success on The Office still bringing him film offers, Krasinski will be starring in the forthcoming movies Leatherheads and Brief Interviews With Hideous Men.
